When I was looking for a job through the Internet, I used the keyword “emergency dentist Melbourne.” We migrated to Australia 3 months ago and I still haven’t found any job related to my profession. I am a Licensed Practical Nurse or LPN and have worked in a cosmetic dental clinic, assisting dentists in performing cosmetic and emergency dental procedures. I had a few criteria in mind for my ideal job – it must be related to my profession, near my place, has reasonable pay, and the clinic must be offering benefits for long-term employment.
My online query generated a number of search results. There are lots of jobs posted, but were mostly very far from our place. I kept on searching until I found this newly-opened dental clinic, just 4 blocks away from where I live. It was looking for an employee to assist dentists in different procedures. I contacted the secretary and was asked to send my résumé online. I told myself that after a week of not receiving a call-back from the company, I’ll find another job. Yesterday, I received an e-mail, confirming my application. I was told to report for an interview later today. I’m kind of excited as this is my very first job interview here in Melbourne.
