Fictional Characters to Invite to Christmas Dinner

11 Nov

So, it’s Christmas day, and you’re fictional. Who would you invite to your Christmas dinner? Scrooge might seem like an obvious choice (from the end of the book) on account of how he’d at least bring a massive amount of food with him. It’s worth it, despite the fact I always thought the excessively cheerful “I’ve just seen a bunch of time travelling ghosts” version of Scrooge was actually creepier than the one at the beginning of the book. Plus, I don’t know how to roast a turkey that big.

It’s A Wonderful Life might seem like a good place to find some cheerful festive company, although I think it would get awkward when George Bailey and Scrooge start discussing their “mystical experiences”, especially if it leads George to talk about his suicide attempt.

I think my favourite guests would have to be Wallace and Gromit. The dog would definitely know how to roast the turkey, and Wallace would bring a bottle, but not consume much more than the cheese and biscuits.

Cat Food Coupons: Volunteer Information

11 Nov

There are many people who are coupon savvy and have many Cat Food Coupons that they have no use for. If you have many cat food coupons, but no cat, a great use for those coupons is for animal shelter donations. You can purchase the cat food at a great discount with your coupon and donate it to the local animal shelter. Animal shelters are always in need of cat food and dog food, and are sure to be very appreciative of your donation. While you are there, you can inquire about other ways to volunteer at the shelter. If you do not have time to volunteer, that is okay, too. The shelter will be happy with just the cat food if that is all you have to give. If you do not want to purchase the cat food yourself, inquire at the shelter to see if they would like the coupons themselves.

Cajun Spiced Basa Fish

21 Apr

If you have never tried Basa fish or Swai fish then you should consider doing so. They have been among the top 10 highest seafood purchases in the US over the past several years and the trend will continue to grow. Basa is a little harder to find than Swai, but if you ask around it shouldn’t be too hard to find. A simple way to prepare Basa fish or Swai is to simply take the raw fillets and dust them lightly with your favorite Cajun seasoning. Sauté the fillets over medium-high heat in a small amount of olive oil until cooked through on both sides, turning the fish only once. Serve the fish with either melted unsalted butter, or your favorite tartar sauce. Serve with sweet potato french fries and fresh steamed broccolini along with the company of some good friends. You’ll be pleasantly surprised by the good flavor this fish has to offer.

After purchasing a cookbook, flip through the cookbook marking recipes you would like to cook for that month. You may try 1 or 2 new recipes per week simply to add a little excitement to the dining room table. Jot down the ingredients required, but don’t forget the spices. Spices are usually what could make or break a meal. Purchase spices that are required for the recipes and maybe a few extra spices for later. You can put on extra spices and maintain them for a long period. When you becomeacquainted with the new spices, you can test them in a number of meals to improve the taste. Planning is essential to saving time and staying with a meal strategy. Plan menus in advance so you will find no surprises. Keep ingredients on-hand which you know you’ll need. Many recipes provide a prep and cooking time. Plan your meals based on your schedule. Read the available time listed for cooking. On days which you get off work late and will be rushed, discover simple foods that you are able to cook quickly. Eat a beef jerky snack while you cook.
